SPECIAL FEATURES

Watch exactly how NY1 News covered the events of 9/11 in our video timeline, "A Day In Time."

To learn how the events of September 11, 2001, affected New Yorkers, see NY1's six-part series of 9/11 profiles.

For complete coverage of the events surrounding the 9/11 attacks as well as a look back at subsequent memorials, see our 9/11 Archive Page.

9/11 COMMISSION

On July 22, 2004, the federal commission investigating the 9/11 attacks released its final report on the events leading up to September 11, 2001, and its recommendations for preventing future attacks. See NY1's complete coverage of the report and the public's reaction.

MEMORIAL DESIGN

In January 2004, a jury selected the "Reflecting Absence" proposal as the design for the 9/11 memorial to be built on the World Trade Center site, from among eight finalists that were vying for the honor.

To see how architect Daniel Libeskind was selected to oversee the redesign of the overall World Trade Center site, see NY1's coverage of the master plan selection from February, 2003.
