Canine Cruise For Little Dogs Benefits Local Animal Charity
July 23, 2008

If the family pet is even growling about not being able to take a trip this summer and a sit-and-stay-cation at the puppy run isn't much to bark about, then consider a nearby alternative for salty dogs and their owners.

For the third year in a row, small dog lovers are being invited to take part in a canine cruise around New York harbor. The three-hour sail takes place onboard a chartered Circle Line yacht and provides a lineup of pet professionals that dole out demos and advice on grooming, training and veterinary care. Some of the shipboard activities include a fashion show, fund raising raffle, commemorative photos, pet contests and gift bags full of toys, treats, and coupons for pet products.

The only stipulation is that dogs be under 25 pounds. The boat carries a maximum of 300 passengers and their dogs. The cruise benefits an animal charity called Angels on a Leash that employs therapy dogs in a variety of settings such as hospitals, schools and jails.

The canine cruise takes place on Sunday September 14th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., with boarding at 11:30am from pier 83 at 42nd Street and 12th Avenue. Cost is $45 per person, and dogs cruise for free.

For more information, call 646-284-0957 or online its www.caninecruise.com. For more about the charity its angelonaleash.org.

Now here's a D'Elia's Deal you don't want to miss if you are one of the first 20 people to register for the canine cruise after seeing this piece. Tell them Val sent you and receive a NY1 doggie bandanna. Email info@caninecruise.com.
