Jill Stuart’s line is inspired by ballet, while Luca Luca goes for a sportier look. NY1’s Cheryl Wills filed the following report.

Jill Stuart's spring 2009 collection echoes a beautiful sunset, with soft colors that softly fade into the horizon.

Stuart says ballerinas inspired her romantic spring look.

“My inspiration was the ballet ‘La Bayadera,’ which I saw this summer, and I just loved how whispery and ethereal the costumes and the choreography was," said Stuart.

Lace-up ankle shoes prove to be the perfect touch.

Meantime, Luca Luca's brand has transitioned from the red carpet to a more sporty look for spring.

Neutrals dominate the collection, from white to silver, with a burst of burnt orange mixed in.

Luca Orlandi's new creative director, Raul Melgoza, called it an easy collection.

“You can't really build a brand strictly on red carpet, so I think you're going to see me taking a more youthful and sportswear-driven approach to the brand,” said Melgoza. “Not forgetting the red carpet, the cocktail, but expanding it and making it more of a lifestyle brand."

"Love Luca Luca, I love fashion,” said tennis star Serena Williams. “Of course, I'm pretty much a fashion girl."

"I know Luca from when he started from really nothing and he is a fabulous designer,” said entrepreneur Ivana Trump. “He goes for the best of the best."

Luca Luca's label would certainly settle for nothing less than the best.
