Tommy Hilfiger Brings Spring Flings To Lincoln Center
A world-famous fashion designer unveils his collection for spring to great praise. NY1’s Cheryl Wills filed the following report of Tommy Hilfiger's spring 2009 fashion show.
Tommy Hilfiger abandoned the tents at Bryant Park for the glitz and glamour of the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center and the fashionista circuit sang his praises.
Hilfiger calls his spring 2009 collection "relaxed American classics".
"It was about making the clothes more glamorous but still relaxed,” said Hilfiger. “It was about making them chic and sophisticated but not pretentious, about making them sexy but not trashy."
"It was very chic, well put together,” said Ally Hilfiger, the designer’s daughter. “I love the music, I love the color, I love the fabric. His silhouettes were different from what they usually are, which I appreciated."
In Tommy Hilfiger's world, orange is the new red. And the all-American girl and boy kick it up a notch with stunning neutral combinations married to silky blouses and loose trousers. It’s a clean, sophisticated look with just a touch of glamour.
"He's always innovative and creative and he reminds me of someone on the streets who has achieved great things," said painter William Quigley.
And finally, take one look at Tommy Hilfiger's whimsical swimwear collection and you're counting down the seven months to spring.
